SMITH V. FIRST AMERICAN TITLE CO. ESCROW FEE CLASS ACTION


SGB, along with co-counsel Guy Beckett and Rob Williamson, has filed a class action lawsuit in alleging that First American Title Co. breached its contract with borrowers and violated the Washington Consumer Protection Act by charging borrowers unnecessary or excessive fees during the escrow process, including reconveyance and document fees.
 
The case is currently pending before the Honorable Jim Rogers in King County Superior Court in Seattle, Washington. Discovery is ongoing, and no class has yet been certified.  Trial is currently scheduled for May 13, 2013.
