PRODUCT LIABILITY:
ACCUTANE ALERT
Since it was introduced to the market, the makers of acne drug Accutane (and its equivalents such as Isotretinoin, Sotret and Clarivis) have known that it was a dangerous drug. Despite repeated admonishments from Congress and the FDA, Roche continued for decades to promote Accutane and expand its market, often for patients with acne that may have responded to safer medications. Accutane is known to cause devastating birth defects, inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis), and increase the risk of suicide. After mounting pressure, Roche finally pulled Accutane from the US market in 2009.
If you or someone you love took Accutane and suffered from suicidal thoughts, bowel disease, or became pregnant while taking the drug, the attorneys at Schroeter Goldmark & Bender can help you learn whether you have a claim against the makers of Accutane.
If you or a loved one asked a doctor specifically for Accutane, you may feel you do not have a case against the drug. However, just because a patient requests a medication does not mean that the drug company cannot be held liable.

At SGB, we are not afraid to take on companies that sell dangerous products to the public. We have experience in these cases, and know how to handle them in the way that is best for the client, whether that is as part of a class action or as an individual claim. We also know how to handle complicated product cases where there is also a potential claim of negligence against one or more health care providers.
Accutane’s manufacturer is a huge multinational company. SGB attorneys are experienced against these giants, while still providing support and advocacy to each client. In some drug cases, it is hard to know whether a problem is related to the drug. SGB attorneys ask targeted questions to help you determine whether you have been harmed by Accutane. Learn what you can do to help your case.
Our legal team also includes attorneys devoted to advocating for adults and children requiring financial and medical support for their disabilities. We will work with clients to help them navigate the maze of benefits programs.
People who have been injured by taking Accutane may see 1-800 numbers advertised. Firms outside Washington are often clearinghouses that transfer your case for a profit. When you call SGB directly, you get the best of both worlds—the product liability expertise you need, and local representation that focuses on you as an individual.
