CRIMINAL DEFENSE:
TERRORISM OFFENSES
In a post-9/11 world, the need for attorneys who specialize in terrorism criminal defense is a reality. Innocent people are sometimes accused of acts of terrorism. People who commit certain kinds of crimes are also now viewed as potential terrorists, even when they weren't before. We believe strongly that anyone accused of a crime in this country should get the defense mandated by the constitution. We also believe that anyone found guilty should be sentenced in a manner that is fair and just, not in a manner driven by passion, prejudice and politics.

- Successfully represented an Iraqi immigrant, accused of being a possible terrorist, who was charged with possessing an invalid commercial driver's license. Our efforts obtained his release from jail and demonstrated that he was not a terrorist.
- Successfully represented a client being prosecuted for a series of arsons claimed by the Earth Liberation Front. This client faced mandatory life without parole when he was indicted. As a result of our pre-trial motions and negotiations, he entered a plea to reduced charges and was sentenced to seven years in prison.
- As a member of the ACLU's John Adams Project, we are acting as civilian legal advisors to one of the men charged with planning, facilitating and carrying out the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. The case is currently pending before a Military Commission in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
